  • Photophysical and Co-ordination Properties of Cyclam Core Dendrimers

As part of the India 4 EU program, Dr. Zeena S. Pillai, Department of Chemistry, Amrita School of Arts and Sciences, had the opportunity to work at the University of Bologna in Italy for two months from June 2011-July 2011. The collaborative research was on Photophysical and Co-ordination Properties of Cyclam Core Dendrimers. They selected dansylated dendrimers with cyclam core and studied its complexation properties with lanthanides.

  • Analysis and Evaluation of Multilayer Shear Damped Viscoelastic Treatments for Launch Vehicle Applications

This research project identifies an appropriate combination of metal-elastomeric module configuration, using multi-layer shear damped viscoelastic approach, for mitigating the structure-bound vibrations on to the sensitive equipment. The composites are made of a metal (aluminium), and an elastomer (natural rubber and silicone rubber).

  • Evaluating the Role of Energy Services for Enhanced Quality of Life

Many villages in India do not have access to electricity. Villages that do receive power intermittently and with frequent disruption, making the supply of electricity unreliable. While government projects and initiatives have come a long way to address the massive challenge of complete rural electrification, a more localized and sustainable solution is warranted.
