A three-day workshop on Script Writing was organized for the third semester DFM and AAA students of the department of Visual Media and Communication, School of Arts and Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi campus, from August 4-6, 2016.
The Kochi-based Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (Amrita Hospital) has conducted India’s first double forearm transplant on a 21-year-old youth, Jith Kumar Saji, who lost both his hands below the elbow in 2013 due to electrical burns. This is the third double-hand transplant at the hospital, which is currently the only facility in India with the capability to conduct hand transplants.
On the occasion of ‘International Yoga Day’, the 1st year students of the Amrita MBA Program, Kochi, participated in the event organized at Regional Sports Centre, Kochi. The program was inaugurated by Union Minister Hansraj Gangaram Ahir and attended by people from all walks of life.
Inauguration of Academic Activities for 2016 – 2017, 14th Series of Annual Extramural Expert Lecture Sessions, Vidyamritam and the CSR initiatives for 2016 were conducted on July 28, 2016 at School of Arts and Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi campus.
Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences conducted a one day symposium on “Evidence Based Medicine” on July 24, 2016. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Srinivas Merugu, Medical Director, United Health Care, Cleveland (USA). Dr. Prem Nair, Medical Director, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Dr. Chakravarthy (Chairperson) spoke on the occasion.
National Plastic Surgery Day was observed with various events at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences on July 15, 2016. Activities included performing pooja to the statue of Saint Sushrutha, Father of Plastic Surgery, situated in the hospital premises and an exhibition.
The Department of Pediatric Cardiology at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences conducted a one-day conference on Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension on June 26, 2016.
The Department of Head & Neck Surgery, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, in association with Foundation for Head and Neck Oncology, conducted a live thyroid surgery workshop during June 3-5, 2016, at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi.
Dr. Raimo Kantola, Professor of Networking Technology, Department of Communications and Networking, Aalto University (Finland), visited the Amritapuri, Coimbatore, and Kochi campuses in early 2016.
The tenth Gold Medal Examination on Indian Culture and Values, with special focus on Chancellor Amma’s life and her teachings was conducted on April 4, 2016 at Amrita Health Sciences Campus.
