Bio

Amudha J. is currently working as a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Amrita School of Computing, Bengaluru, leading a research group on  AI in Health and Wellbeing. She has established an Eye Tracking and Computer Vision Research Lab focusing on Vision Applications, Usability Research targeting sustainable development goals in the areas of Education, Healthcare, Security, and Agriculture. Eye tracking and Computer Vision Research Lab is equipped with Eye trackers-3, Video surveillance cameras-5, AWS Deep Racer, Meta Quest Pro advanced all in one VR headset and NAO Humanoid Robo

Several MoUs have been signed on collaborative research works with HCG Cancer Centre, Narayana Nethralaya and NIMHANS. She has been associated with industries like Honeywell Technology Solutions Lab Pvt Ltd, Paralaxiom Technologies Pvt Ltd, ABB Global Industries and Services Pvt Ltd, Intellectyx Data Science Pvt Ltd and has carried out research and consultancy works. She has Joint Research work with International Universities University of Trento, Italy, University of Missouri, Brunel University, Oakland University and Wyoming University.

A Patent has been granted on an innovative technology in eye tracking research to automate the detection of optic disc for health care diagnostic systems. System and Method for Detection of Features in an Image using Knowledge of Expert’s Eye Gaze Pattern Patent no: 517020, 29.02.2024.A Patent has been published for System for Automatic Screening, Prediction and Detection of Glaucoma.

She spearheaded a Project on Diagnosis of reading disability in Dyslexic children using Eye Tracking, which was selected for State level Seminar and Exhibition to be conducted by Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST).

She has been in various administrative roles like chairperson of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, BoS Member Published 130+ research papers in peer-reviewed conferences and journal. Five candidates have successfully graduated their PhD in the field of Computer Vision for Object Detection, Optic Disc Detection, Glaucoma Detection, Mental Health Care, Automated Assessment of MCQ and Coding in Education revolving around innovative algorithms and system designed with dataset curated in-house with domain expert collaboration.
