AmritaWNA Receives Two New US Patents for National Knowledge Network Project

Amrita Center for Wireless Networks & Applications (AmritaWNA) has received two new US patents (Patent numbers US 9826196 and US 9852647) for the National Knowledge Network (NKN) - A gateway to the Global Classroom project on 21st November and 26th November, 2017.

Online classrooms through video conferencing are becoming popular. But, the feeling of involvement in a live classroom and participation is always amiss. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham's Centre for Wireless Networks and Applications department has invented a technology where students from different remote locations can interact, not only with the professor, but with each other too. The technology is called tele-immersive gaze alignment technology, and the professors from Amrita University were awarded a US patent for this in July 2016. The inventors include the Vice Chancellor of the university, D. P. Venkat Rangan, Balaji Hariharan, Ramkumar Narayanankutty, Sreedevi Ambili Gopakumar and Uma Gopalakrishnan.

Amrita Nano Centre Scientists Win International Patents for Novel Invention on Cancer-Nanomedicine

Amrita Centre for Nanoscience and Molecular Medicine, Kochi scientists lead by Prof. Manzoor Koyakutty and Prof. Shantikumar Nair (Centre Director) received two international patents from USA, Europe, Japan and China for a path-breaking invention in cancer-nanomedicine for treating drug-resistant cancers.

Amrita Winner of Computer Society of India Innovation Award 2014 for Third Consecutive Year

India's first and largest professional body for IT professionals, Computer Society of India (CSI), announced that Amrita University’s indigenouslydeveloped e-learning platform, A-VIEW (Amrita Virtual Interactive E-Learning World) has won the Computer Society of India (CSI) Innovation Award 2014 at the 49th annual convention of CSI at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) held recently ( December 12, 2014) in Hyderabad.
