Bio

Dr. B. Venkataraman has received M.Sc. (Physics) from Madurai – Kamaraj University, M. Tech (Materials Science & Technology), and Ph.D. (Metallurgical Engineering), both from Banaras Hindu University. For 35 years, he has been working as a scientist at Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory (DMRL). Dr. Venkataraman made extensive contributions in the field of Tribology and Surface Engineering. He has published over 40 papers in Scopus-indexed journals. He spearheaded a program for developing a variety of coatings for an indigenous acro engine. As a part of his research, he developed several sophisticated experimental techniques such as an abradable test rig, high-velocity gas gun, high-temperature high-stress tribo test rig, etc. He has delivered several invited lectures at national and international conferences. He has served as an expert member onseveral project review boards/committees of DRDO, DST, and CSIR.
