Prof. Raman has over 30 years of executive management experience at variety of fortune 500 companies and has been with Amrita since its inception. Prof. Raman established the Center for Research in Analytics & Technologies for Education (CREATE), with over $5m in research funding and has 60+ peer reviewed publications. Prof. Raman is frequently invited as speaker at world ranking forums like QS Edudata Summit -world’s premium forum for data-driven educators; Annual Academic Summit for the advancement of University Excellence organized by QS; Elsevier Research connect forum; iREG – Observatory on Academic Ranking & Excellence; University Ranking forum of South Korea; Higher Education Sustainability Initiative at United Nations, USA to name a few. As an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at NEC Research Labs, Prof. Raman raised over $16m in VC funding for an Intelligent Video surveillance start-up. As Executive Director at Informix/IBM, he provided leadership for product development group in the area of Massively Parallel Database systems. For over five years, as CEO of Amrita Technologies, a high technology healthcare start up, Prof. Raman provided leadership that lead to a patented and CCHIT certified Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system with a global customer base. Prof. Raman holds an MBA from Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley and is the recipient of President of India gold medal. He serves on the board of director for Amrita Technology Business Incubator and is the past chair of IEEE Education Society Chapter, India.

The EduData Summit is one of the flagship events hosted by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a platform for top academic leaders to share best practices, knowledge, latest research trends, and foster international collaborations. While 2020 was celebrated as the year of digital learning, in 2021 the focus has shifted to addressing challenges and barriers to education, specifically the digital divide and technological inequalities, to achieve the UN’s SDGs and understand educational policies’ impact on teaching-learning outcomes.
In partnership with iREG Observatory on Academic Ranking and Excellence (IREG), the Faculty of Education and Psychology of Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), organized a 3-day virtual conference between May 19 and 21, 2021. The theme of the conference was “University Rankings – Reflections from Social Sciences and Humanities”. In this elite forum, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, which secured the 81st rank in the world and 1st rank in India in the THE Impact Rankings 2021, was represented by Prof. Raghu Raman (Director, Center for Accreditations, Rankings & Eminence at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham).
Dr. Raghu Raman, Director, Amrita Internal Quality Assurance Cell (Amrita IQAC), participated in the panel discussion titled, ‘Measuring and Reporting on the Sustainable Development Goals’, at Europe, the Asia Pacific and the Global Transformation Agenda Conference, The event was hosted by the European Union Centre of Excellence at RMIT University and supported by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union from March 24-26, 2021.

The topic of the event was “Employability Skills For The Future- Academia & Industry Partnership”. Dr. Raghu Raman, Director, Amrita IQAC, was the moderator and speakers were K. P. Isaac (Director General, XIME Group of Institutions), Dr. Sujata Shahi (Vice-Chancellor, IILM University), Dr. Tabrez Ahmad (Vice-Chancellor, GD Goenka University) and Dr. D.N.S. Kumar (Vice-Chancellor, Sushant University).
Cherishing heartfelt memories that refuse to fade away, School of Business (ASB), Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, celebrated the Alumni Reunion 2019 on 9th and 10th of February at Coimbatore campus with a host of social, cultural and sporting activities. More than 55 former students since the inception of the institute in 1996 came back to their beloved campus to relive old memories and forge new ones.
Under the theme of “Future Universities in The Asia-Pacific: The Changing Face of Higher Education”, the annual QS higher education conference, took place November 21-23, 2018, in Seoul, South Korea, followed by Ranking Forum at KAIST University. Dr. Raghu Raman, Chairman and Professor of Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore and Director, Global Rankings & Accreditation, represented Amrita at the event.
On March 23, 2018, Amrita’s Virtual Laboratories and its deployment outcomes won the GOLC Online Lab Award 2018 for visualized experiment category. The nomination was titled “vlab – Sustainable Laboratory Skill Education through Free Online Labs and Connecting Teachers and Students across the Country” and recognizes the efforts in deploying free educational tools and promoting its outreach across students, professors and institutions and included Dr. Shyam Diwakar, the Institute Integration Coordinator of Amrita Virtual Labs(link is external) ; Dr. Krishnashree Achuthan, the Principal Investigator of the project; Dr. Bipin Nair, the Discipline-wise National Coordinator of Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering Virtual Labs for the National Mission Project; Dr. Prema Nedungadi, Director of AmritaCREATE and Dr. Raghu Raman, Chairman, Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore, who had jointly led the project, its design, implementation and studies.
A twelve member delegation from Hunan Xiangtan University and Hunan Xiangtan Daonan Academy, located in the Hunan District in China, visited the Kochi and Amritapuri campuses of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, on December 17-18, 2017. During the visit, official talks on signing a Memorandum of Understanding were held.

In an attempt to raise awareness about eye donation, Young Indians of Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore (ASB) conducted an “Eye Donation Awareness Campaign” at Sri Krishna Hall in the campus on October 24, 2016. Ahalia Foundation Eye Hospital collaborated with YiNet for the campaign.
Senior Scientist and Strategist Dr. Jayant Sathaye, who contributed to the 2007 Nobel Prize-winning reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), spoke on the topic ‘Understanding Climate Change to Limit Atmospheric Temperature Increase and Impact on Utilities’ at Amrita School of Business, Coimbatore on June 11, 2016.
Amrita School of Business (ASB) has inaugurated its 21st batch of full-time MBA program (Class of 2018) at Amriteshwari Hall in the campus on 6 June 2016. The new batch comprises of 135 students from all over the country, coming from different disciplines, including engineering, medicine, arts and science.
