Dr (Capt) Anu Ramachandran completed her BDS from A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Mangalore, Karnataka in the year 1993 and completed the compulsory one year internship in the same institute in the year 1994.

On completion of the above, she joined the ARMY DENTAL CORPS, Ministry of defence, Govt of India as DENTAL OFFICER in the rank of Lieutenant in Dec 1994. During her tenure, she undertook both peace posting, and field posting in the North Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, India. In addition to the professional duties, she was entrusted with the administrative duties of dental platoon of her unit. She provided surgical, restorative, and endodontic, prosthodontic, periodontal treatments independently to the Officers, other ranks, their families, and civilians. She provided dental education to the same and has participated in the various medical and dental camps. She took release from her 5 years of short service commission in December1999 in the rank of Captain.

She worked as a Consultant Dental Surgeon from Jan 2000 to Feb 2003 at Modern Dental Speciality Clinic in Aroor. She had managed the clinic independently performing all the professional work.

On obtaining the License to Dental practice in Sultanate of Oman in the first attempt itself, from May 2003 to Dec 2004, she worked as a General Dentist in Naif Medical Complex LLC, Salalah, Sultanate of Oman. Further, upon selection to the Ministry of Health and awaiting the posting, she returned from abroad and worked in Alwaye Dental Speciality, Alwaye, Kochi from January 2005 to February 2006.

She returned to Sultanate of Oman on receiving the posting as Dental Surgeon in Ministry of Health, Sultanate of Oman in Jalaan Polyclinic, South Sharqiyah region, where she worked from Feb 2006 to Dec 2009. In addition to routine dental work, she performed School Dental Programme and on-call duties to manage emergency dental and maxillofacial injuries. This helped in sharpening her experience in managing maxillofacial trauma cases. She attained a working knowledge to speak Arabic language during this time. During her tenure, she was bestowed the Best Doctor Award and a Certificate of Appreciation by the Director-General of Health Services in the South Sharqiyah region.

From January 2010 to March 2010 and from April 2010 to April 2013 she worked as Dental Surgeon in St Thomas Hospital, Chethipuzha, Changanassery and Dr. Afsals Dental Clinic, Edapally, Kochi, respectively.

During the period of July 2013 to May 2016, she served as Dental Assistant Surgeon in National Rural Health Mission, Govt of Kerala in various Taluk Hospitals in the district of Ernakulam. She was an active participant for various camps conducted during this period.

She joined to pursue her masters degree course in Oral Medicine and Radiology from May 2016 to June 2019 from Amrita School of Dentistry, Kochi.

Currently, she is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology and in Faculty Practice from September 2019. Her areas of interest are TMJ and its disorders, neuromuscular dentistry, oral mucosal diseases, and maxillofacial radiology. She is involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate academic activities and research program along with her duties in Faculty Practice. She has authored and published two articles and co-authored two articles that are under review process.

Assessment of clinical symptoms and condylar position of TMD patients using CBCT imaging with deprogramming splint therapy and occlusal equilibration. The hypothesis tested was the alleviation of symptoms of TMD with possible changes in condylar position occurs with this treatment. : The condylar position of 12 TMD patients was observed from CBCT images, and clinically, symptom severity score, mouth opening, and range of motion were compared pre- and post-treatment. : All patients reported a statistically significant decrease in the symptom severity score and increase in mouth opening and range of motion ( < .05). A significant decrease was only achieved in the left anterior joint space ( < .05). : Deprogramming splint therapy and occlusal equilibration benefitted patients with a reduction in clinical symptoms, and minor changes in condylar position were observed.
