Participants: CWEGE faculty and researchers On the 7th August 2018, Ms. Allison Gilchrist, an expert in Public Health and clinical drug trials research conducted a session on ‘Ethical considerations in conducting human research’ to the faculty and researchers of the Centre for Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality.
Ms. Allison Gilchrist has a Masters in Public Health from San Francisco State University- College of Health and Social Sciences. She worked as Interim Programme Director, Health and Life Sciences Programme, University of Roehampton and Lead Faculty at the University of Liverpool (UoL) Health & Life Sciences-Psychology, Public Health, and Clinical Research Programs. She has extensive experience in the field of clinical drug trials research mainly in Unites States. She had also associated with Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi in the area of Diabetes research. Ms Gilchrist discussed in detailed the clinical trials in medical related/public health research studies, with practical focus in general ethics principles. The participants raised cases from their own research experience for discussion. Ms. Gilchrist also presented the work she had associated with at AIMS. The faculty and researchers at the Centre for Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality found it very enlightening and brought up several queries and discussion from their own research areas.
