Abstract : Forensic nursing is vital in managing psychiatric emergencies, where complex legal, ethical, and medical challenges converge. A systematic review of 35 studies (from 2000 to 2023) reveals that effective forensic nursing strategies include verbal and nonverbal de-escalation techniques, such as active listening, empathy, and respectful body language, which significantly reduce patient agitation. Simulation-based training programs are key in enhancing nurses’ readiness and confidence in crises. The review also highlights the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration between forensic nurses, healthcare professionals, and law enforcement in improving crisis outcomes. Ethical concerns, particularly regarding the use of restraints and seclusion, underscore the need for strict guidelines and ongoing training to protect patient rights. The findings emphasize the critical role of evidence-based practices, continuous education, and ethical adherence in improving patient safety and care quality. Future research should focus on longitudinal assessments to refine crisis intervention strategies and reinforce the essential role of forensic nursing in modern healthcare.
