Bio

Dr. Ayantika Chakraborty currently serves as an Assistant Professor at the Chennai campus of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. She is a folklorist and cultural researcher specializing in folklore studies, ethnographic fieldwork, digital archiving, and the documentation of traditional Indian art forms. Her professional experience includes working as an archivist and researcher with institutions such as the American Institute of Indian Studies and INTACH, contributing to archival preservation, ethnomusicology research, and heritage documentation. Her research focuses on craft traditions, ritual practices, community development, and the role of creative economies in sustaining cultural heritage. At Amrita she teaches courses on spirituality and culture and mentors students in interdisciplinary research initiatives including the Live-in-Labs program.
