Abstract : Magnesium is a lightweight material with inferior strength and stiffness, and it softens at relatively low temperatures. Ceramic particles in the Mg matrix can improve these shortcomings. In the current examination, graphene (0.5 wt%, 1 wt%, 1.5 wt%, and 2 wt%) reinforced magnesium composites were synthesized using the squeeze casting method and their microstructure and mechanical properties were analysed. Microstructural observation shows that Mg intermetallic phases interact with intermixture to form a refined grain size and enhance interface bonding between the blends, strengthening the composite by inhibiting dislocation movement. The interphase Mg2C provide a stable and protective coating on the surface of magnesium, preventing further oxidation and corrosion.
