Students of Amrita school of nursing, Faridabad, Organized Women’s Health Camp Empowering 50+ Beneficiaries in Mewla Maharajpur

A successful health camp for women was organized in Urban Health Centre Mewla Maharajpur by the B.Sc. Nursing 7th semester students of Amrita school of nursing, Faridabad  with the purpose of promoting preventative health care and education among other things. This health camp was organized on the theme of ‘Healthy Women, Healthy Future’ and involved healthcare professionals as well as nursing students trying to tackle some of the most crucial health problems affecting women in the community.

This camp was conducted as an initiative by B.Sc Nursing seventh semester students, supported by nursing faculty members, and aimed at ensuring that women could benefit from the various health services available. In total, 52 women participated in the health camp.

All participants were able to receive the following services: Body Mass Index (BMI) assessment, blood pressure measurement, hemoglobin test for anemia, and random blood sugar testing. Participants also received nutrition counseling, individualized health consultations, and Oral Rehydration Solutions (ORS).

The program was strongly focused on health education with an emphasis on interactive sessions around menstrual hygiene, preventing anemia, hand hygiene, and practicing healthy lifestyle habits. The nursing students presented a role play regarding the importance of educating people on anemia and the need for its early detection, and the value of an iron-rich diet.

Also, other medical practitioners talked to the audience about the significance of undergoing medical screening exams and seeking medical help in time. They urged women to avail themselves of healthcare services and practice prevention to maintain good health.

The camp had been planned based on the results of a community-wide survey that had been completed prior to the planning. This survey identified the major health issues facing the community, including anemia, menstrual health problems, hypertension, and lack of knowledge about family planning and hygiene.

Data obtained from this camp shows that a lot of people have been affected in their lives through anemia and lack of physical exercise, which calls for more programs of awareness and interventions.

Although there were minor problems like handling huge crowds and lack of time to give recommendations, it was clear that this project had been successful. In addition, those who worked in the camp believed they had helped in making the community healthier and developing the students’ skills as nurses.

The overall outcome of this project is a successful conclusion that supports the idea of implementing community-based programs for improved health among women.
